Only 3 days left to lodge objections with Council to Disposal of Pensford Field as Open Space

A third of a century’s work in Pensford Field at risk

Dear Friends,

Just a final call for objections to the disposal of Pensford Field as an open space to be submitted on or before the 22 May. We have seen well over a 100 hundred objections - thank you so much for your support.

Objections can be sent by email to pensfordfield@richmondandwandsworth.gov.uk or by post to the address in the notice . Please also copy us in at info@pensfordfield.co.uk so we know what the Council has received.

There are some suggested points to raise in the draft letter in this link but many of your have put your objections in your own words, far more eloquently expressed.

Independent film maker, Martin Baker has just completed his fourth short video explaining latest developments Battle for Pensford Field (Part 4). We remain grateful to him for casting light on the Council’s actions in such a clear way.

There is still confusion over whether the Council had or had not already made its decision last year - this confusion is shared with Dose of Nature who stated in a recent newsletter that the Council awarded them a lease in September 2024 but then reversed their decision. We have received some legal advice that suggests the Council cannot be seen to fairly consider representations in relation to the status of the field, given all its prior statements. It will therefore be interesting to read the report to the Finance, Policy and Resources Committee on 25 June.

Our next two Work Days are on 14 June and 12 July from 10am to 12 noon. We got so much done at the May one - many hands make light work so please join us.

Tickets are still available for a talk on Saturday 14 June at 12.30pm on “Weeds or Wildflowers” by Katrina Roche, Trustee, local gardener and freelance garden writer with a blog, weedsrootsleaves.com To reserve a free place, book on Eventbrite.

Finally we very much hope you will be able to join us for our Summer Party on the afternoon of Saturday 19 July at 1.30pm. Follow this link for more details.

All best,

Sarah
